Get the expert scoop on the packaging, use, cleaning, maintenance, and Bartesian community perks.
Setting up the Bartesian
The box will come with one premium Bartesian cocktail maker, five glass spirit bottles with labeled lids for vodka, whiskey, rum, gin, and tequila, a removable power cord, a removable Bartesian bar mat, and a water reservoir with a lid.
There are four spaces on the Bartesian cocktail machine for spirits; gin and rum share a space. Also know not all of the spirits need to be installed for the cocktail machine to function, just the spirit that’s on the label of the chosen capsule.
First use
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, filtered water. Don’t use any other liquids in this reservoir as it may cause problems for your Bartesian.
- Place the water reservoir in the base of the machine.
- Fill each spirit bottle with your favorite brand of spirits and make sure the labels match what’s in the bottle. Screw the lids on tightly.
- Place the spirit bottles upside down into the correct base positions until they snap into place.
- Insert the removable power cord into the port on the back of the base. Plug the other end into an outlet.
- Touch the control panel to wake up the cocktail machine.
- Select the settings option on the control panel.
- Place an eight-ounce cup under the dispenser and select “First Use” on the control panel.
- Follow the prompts to prime the water line.

Cleaning and maintenance
Like any machine dispensing drinks, periodic cleaning will help the Bartesian operate at its optimal potential. The cocktail machine will self-clean between uses so cocktail flavors aren’t mixing. However, the capsule holder should be cleaned as well.
Remove cocktail capsules from the capsule holder shortly after the last dispense of the evening is complete. Remove the capsule holder by lifting the lid handle and pushing up on the capsule holder with both hands.
Don’t put your fingers in the capsule holder. That’s where the needle is that punctures cocktail capsules. Then, pull the removable capsule seal down to clean it. You can wash it in hot, soapy water and rinse it. Return the capsule holder and seal to the cocktail machine. The rest of the machine can be wiped down with a cloth if needed.
Becoming a true mixologist
To be a mixologist at home, the Bartesian cocktail machine will need some counterparts. The main necessity would be Bartesian capsules; otherwise, a cocktail can’t be made. To start, try some of the classic gin drink recipes like the Gin Martini, Aviation, or Negroni. Not into gin drink recipes? You can browse Bartesian capsules by spirit.
Check out some of our classic vodka cocktails like the Amaretto Sour, Cosmopolitan, or Hemingway Daiquiri. There are plenty of other vodka cocktails to try once you get rolling with your Bartesian cocktail machine. Explore the mixologist in you and try out bold flavors and crowd-pleasers.
